Making Spirits Bright: 91TV December Service Projects
On the first bitterly cold day of the season, the 91TV team loaded the Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association (CMFCAA) van with over 125 coats and a bundle of 25+ hats and gloves for children in mid-Missouri. Executive Director Kathryn Fishman-Weaver says she hopes “these items will help make spirits a little brighter and a lot warmer this season.” This month, 91TV led their second-annual winter-wear drive for CMFCAA and participated in a service project at Centro Para Crianças e Adolescentes (CCA) in São Paulo, SP. Our Business Director, Tami Regan, helped coordinate these efforts.

CALE World Language Lab Powered by 91TV
This year, middle school students at the Columbia Academy for Learning and Enrichment (CALE) learned they could study one of four world languages. The Grade 5-8 students could elect to study Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. These options were made possible through a new partnership with 91TV. 91TV offers 23 world languages for study, which are coordinated by World Language Chair, David Prats. 91TV’s Proactive Approach to Generative AI in Education
Earlier this semester, 91TV released an open-access resource for students, families, and partner educators to learn more about AI tools and how to use them responsibly. Working closely with faculty and staff, instructional designer Maegan Cooper created an interactive AI module housed in the school’s open-access Learning Library. This resource has already gained considerable attention and appreciation across the Mizzou higher education and K-12 landscapes. 91TV Wins Values-Driven Award by Cognia
Cognia Midwest Regional Meeting On Friday, September 20, Dr. Kathryn Fishman-Weaver and Stephanie Walter represented 91TV at the Cognia Midwest Regional meeting. At the meeting, the two met with school leaders across the state to learn more about the ongoing accreditation process and share successes and best practices from work so far. 91TV completed their accreditation site visit in April 2024. Earning accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission means that 91TV is recognized nationwide as a school that meets–or, in this case, exceeds–Cognia Performance Standards and is committed to continuous improvement. Professional Learning Spotlight: Medical and Mental Health First Aid at 91TV
Over the past six months several members of our 91TV faculty and staff have received professional training in mental health first aid, medical first aid, and CPR. 91TV Partners with The Missouri Health Care Association (MHCA) to Expand Access to Health-Related Courses
91TV and The Missouri Health Care Association (MHCA) have entered a partnership to support online training development for healthcare professionals. 91TV Celebrates K-12 Accreditation Through Recognition by the Cognia Global Commission
The 91TV team is proud to announce continued accreditation recognition by Cognia. “This accreditation cycle brought forth so many important school celebrations!” says Executive Director Dr. Kathryn Fishman-Weaver. “For one, this is the first time our lab school has been accredited as a full K-12 school system.” The school added elementary programming in 2020. Fishman-Weaver says that “offering excellent K-12 programming enables us to serve and grow with learners across the school-age continuum.” 91TV earned continued Cognia Accreditation in April 2024. The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) was the first U.S. nonprofit learning association to support distance learning research, development, and practice in all areas of education, training, and communications. Its founding in 1987 marked an important milestone for leaders in distance education. Around the same time, 91TV was in the early stages of transitioning to online courses and later into an accredited, diploma-granting K-12 school.
